Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire and allowing aid into Gaza without any obstacles.
He condemned the dangerous Israeli escalation in Lebanon, warning of expanding the conflict into a full-scale regional war.
He made the remarks during a meeting of the Arab-Islamic committee with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the fringe of the high-level meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
Abdelatty voiced appreciation of the efforts exerted by Guterres to support the Palestinian people’s rights, stressing rejection of all practices aiming to separate the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
He underlined the importance of putting into effect the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1976 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
