Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted Egypt’s commitment to supporting the role of UN in Yemen.
Egypt is backing efforts aimed at consolidating the truce track and promoting the political solution in the country, in addition to alleviating humanitarian burdens on the Yemeni people, added Shoukry while receiving Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen Hans Grundberg on Monday.
The talks tackled the latest developments of the Yemeni crisis and ways of supporting all efforts to reach sustainable solutions that attain aspirations of the Yemeni people toward the achievement of stability, sovereignty and safety.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said the UN envoy briefed the foreign minister on the outcome of contacts he is making with various Yemeni and regional parties.
Shoukry underscored constants of the Egyptian position toward the importance of supporting the political process in Yemen.
In turn, Grundberg appreciated efforts exerted by the Egyptian side on the political and humanitarian tracks to solve the crisis in Yemen.
