CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reiterated on Sunday the deeply-rooted relations binding Egypt with Djibouti.

He stressed Egypt’s keenness on boosting bilateral co-operation in the political, economic and development domains in a way that serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries.

The top diplomat made the remarks during a phone call with his Djiboutian counterpart Mahamoud Ali Youssouf.

Abdelatty referred to the phone call between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Djiboutian counterpart Ismail Omar Guelleh on October 30, saying it came as part of the distinguished partnership binding the two countries and their keenness on boosting cooperation in the development and trade domains.

The contact tackled developments in the Horn of Africa region, efforts to support Somalia’s unity and integrity of its territories and tensions in the Red Sea area and their impact on maritime navigation and international trade.

The two ministers underlined the importance of stepping up cooperation among the Red Sea countries to protect their interests and national security.

They also agreed on boosting cooperation within regional and international organizations and maintaining joint coordination to boost bilateral relations.
