Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati received MP Sherif El-Gebaly, head of the African Affairs Committee in Egypt’s House of Representatives, on Tuesday.The meeting focused on strengthening Egypt’s presence in Africa and coordinating efforts between the executive and legislative branches to serve national interests.
Abdel-Aati reaffirmed the Foreign Ministry’s close cooperation with parliament and stressed the priority Egypt attaches to Africa as a cornerstone of its foreign policy. He highlighted the importance of expanding ties with African parliaments through friendship groups, boosting economic and development cooperation, trade, investment, and infrastructure projects in transport and energy to support regional integration and sustainable development.
The minister also underlined the need to build strategic partnerships across the continent, leveraging momentum from business delegations and encouraging private sector involvement in Africa’s growth.
El-Gebaly expressed the committee’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Foreign Ministry to advance Egypt’s foreign policy priorities and reinforce the country’s leadership role in Africa.
