Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on November 1 marks an extraordinary milestone in the history of culture and human civilization.
In an editorial to MENA, Abdelatty asserted that Egypt continues to shine as a beacon of creativity and cultural dialogue across the ages.
This monumental institution, the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization, embodies Egypt’s vision of harmonizing the grandeur of the past with the aspirations of the future, he said.
In preparation for this globally significant event, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs undertook a series of intensive efforts to ensure that the opening would reflect Egypt’s stature, he added.
Egyptian diplomatic and consular missions worked tirelessly to secure the widest and highest-level international participation. These efforts culminated in the confirmation of nearly 80 official delegations attending the inauguration, including around 40 led by kings, princes, heads of state and government leaders, he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ efforts also extend to the continuous retrieval of smuggled Egyptian antiquities, in close coordination with national authorities, he asserted.
