Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri has reiterated Egypt’s firm position towards strengthening the security and stability structure in Libya, as well as the priority that Egypt attaches to Libyan political solutions within the framework of preserving Libya’s unity and national institutions.
Such is the path for achieving a comprehensive settlement that takes into consideration all aspects of the Libya issue, Minister Shoukri said in a statement he delivered to a meeting of foreign ministers of Libya’s neighbouring countries, which was hosted by Algeria on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
Minister Shoukri stressed the important role entrusted to neighbouring countries within the framework of keenness on establishing stability and security in Libya, as well as achieving the legitimate aspirations of the Libyan people for building Libya as a stable state, Spokesman Hafez said.
Minister Shoukri also praised the achievements of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee, the latest of which was the opening of the coastal road between Libya’s east and west; hence and the need to provide it with full support in order to complete its various tasks, including ensuring the exit of all foreign forces as well as foreign fighters and mercenaries.
The minister also stressed the need to expedite the adoption of all measures deemed necessary measures in preparation for holding the elections on its scheduled date of December 24, 2021.
