Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said that Egypt believes that strengthening the Lebanese state and empowering its legitimate institutions is the most effective way to restore stability and address the challenges facing the country.
These remarks came during Abdelatty’s meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam as part of his current official visit for consultations on developments in Lebanon and the region.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said that Abdelatty conveyed Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli’s greetings and Egypt’s congratulations on Lebanon’s Independence Day.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Lebanon and expressed satisfaction with the recent momentum in bilateral relations, including the agreements signed during Salam’s latest visit to Cairo. He stressed Cairo’s readiness to expand cooperation in key sectors.
He also voiced concern over the ongoing Israeli escalation and underscored the need to avoid any further deterioration while calling for full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
For his part, Salam expressed appreciation for Egypt’s continued support and affirmed Lebanon’s interest in maintaining close coordination with Cairo.
