Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration & Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met, with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas in Brussels.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Abdelatty praised the Egyptian-European relations, noting that the successive developments in the Middle East require enhancing coordination between the two sides and working to support the comprehensive strategic partnership in order to achieve security and stability in the region.
FM stressed the vital role of the High Representative in strengthening the strategic partnership, welcoming the European financial support provided to Egypt through the disbursement of the first tranche worth one billion euros from the soft loans component of the European financial package and looking forward to approving the second tranche worth four billion euros.
He also addressed the issue of immigration, stressing that it represents a common challenge for both Egypt and the European Union, and that cooperation in this field must be carried out in a balanced manner that achieves the interests of both parties and meets their priorities.
