CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has praised Egypt’s strong ties with Russia, commending the ongoing pace of political consultations, as well as the work of joint technical, economic, and scientific committees.
He explained that such fruitful joint action includes the activities of the 15th session of the Egypt-Russia Joint committee for trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation, which led to the signing of a contract to use the land of the Russian industrial zone.
Abdelatty’s remarks came during a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk on Tuesday, as part of his visit to Cairo.
The foreign minister emphasised Egypt’s commitment to activating joint projects, particularly the project of Dabaa nuclear power plant and the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, with the aim of providing all necessary facilitation for their success.
The meeting also covered cooperation in the areas of transport, tourism, and civil aviation, as Abdelatty praised the significant increase in Russian tourism to Egypt. He also highlighted the ongoing coordination between the relevant authorities, tour operators, and travel companies in both countries, which contributes to supporting the tourism sector and enhancing cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two friendly nations.
