In line with presidential directives to intensify efforts toward halting regional escalation, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati conducted a series of telephone consultations on Monday with his counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey.
The discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan focused on the fast-moving developments across the region.
Talks underscored the importance of reinforcing the U.S.–Iran negotiation track and pursuing consensus-based solutions. The ministers stressed adherence to diplomacy as the means to consolidate the ceasefire, end the conflict, and ease regional tensions. They also highlighted the need to safeguard freedom of navigation, warning of the severe global economic repercussions of disruptions to shipping lanes, including impacts on supply chains, trade, and international commerce.
Abdel-Aati reiterated that lasting stability requires respect for state sovereignty and consideration of the security concerns of regional states, particularly Gulf countries. He affirmed that dialogue remains the sole path to securing peace and stability in the Middle East.
