FM heads to Athens for consultations on ties, regional, int’l developments 1 - Egyptian Gazette

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri headed to Greece on Sunday, on a visit to follow up the course of bilateral ties and hold consultations on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The visit reasserts the strategic nature of the relations between the two countries, and the mutual keenness on further bolstering the close and distinguished relations, which have steadily developed deepened over the past years, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

The two sides will also hold consultations and coordinate positions on regional and international developments, foremost of which the ongoing efforts to end the war in Gaza, spokesman Abu Zeid added.

Minister Shoukri and his Greek counterpart Giorgos Gerapetritis will lead extensive discussions to follow up the implementation of bilateral co-operation programmes, in addition to coordination between the two countries in various fields.

Besides political consultations, Minister Shoukri is due to meet Copelouzos Group President Dimitrios Copelouzos, to follow up the progress that has been achieve so far in the electricity connectivity project between Egypt and Greece, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

The Egyptian chief diplomat is also expected to hold some press and meetings and interviews with the Greek media, spokesman Abu Zaid added.
