Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty expressed appreciation for historical relations with Spain, praising Madrid’s supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, especially its wise decision to recognize the State of Palestine.
Meeting with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares, the two sides exchanged views on developments in Gaza and Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire and provide humanitarian aid to the people in the enclave.
Abdelatty is visiting Madrid to participate in a ministerial meeting on the Palestinian.
The foreign ministers of several Muslim and European countries will meet in Madrid on Friday to discuss how to implement a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s hope that more countries would recognize the State of Palestine as a key pillar for achieving peace in the Middle East, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khalaf said in a statement following the meeting.
The top diplomat also praised distinguished relations linking Egypt with Spain on political and economic levels, emphasizing the importance of enhancing trade exchange and increasing direct Spanish investments in Egypt, taking advantage of available opportunities in various economic sectors in Egypt, such as infrastructure, transportation, water, renewable and green energy, and electrical connectivity.
