Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said the global governance requires solid reforms at the Security Council in light of the body’s inability to address the current crises.

The minister’s remarks came on Saturday at a business lunch organized by Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoko Kamikawa on the sidelines of his participation at the Tokyo International Conference of African Development (TICAD) in Japan.

The discussions focused on issues related to women, youth, peace, security, digital transition, green development and artificial intelligence, among others, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.

They also reviewed ways to support efforts on global governance and achieve the goals of sustainable development.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s backing for issues related to peace, security and the effective participation of women in decision-making and serving diplomacy and peace.

He also shed light on Cairo’s important role to settle disputes and maintain peace in Africa with the support of partners, particularly Japan.

Egypt is about to finish the first national action plan on women, peace and security, he added.
