Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri stressed the importance of intensifying bilateral and regional efforts to combat terrorist organisations and organised crime groups in the Sahel region.
He also called for boosting cooperation in reconstruction and post-conflicts development endeavours.
Shoukri’s remarks came during his meeting on Tuesday with visiting Foreign Minister of Sierra Leone David J Francis. The two foreign ministers discussed regional issues of common interest and signed a number of co-operation agreements, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
They signed an agreement on political consultation and a memorandum of understanding in the fields of youth and culture.
The two ministers expressed interest in boosting trade exchange between Egypt and Sierra Leone.
FM Shoukri pointed out that Egypt provided Sierra Leone with a package of aid, medical equipment, and pharmaceuticals to support health sector in the African country.
Francis, for his part, appreciated Egypt’s support to his country, asserting the necessity of bolstering bilateral co-operation in all fields and at different levels.
