Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty Monday reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to the principle of strategic balance established by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, describing it as the governing framework for Egypt’s foreign policy moves that has contributed to consolidating Egypt’s status as a central pillar of stability at both the regional and international levels.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with the Board of Trustees of the American University in Cairo (AUC), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with academic and educational institutions in Egypt.

During the meeting, Abdelatty praised the university’s role in supporting education and scientific research, as well as promoting cultural and intellectual dialogue.

He commended AUC’s contributions to preparing qualified cadres capable of playing an effective role in Egyptian society, stressing the importance of partnerships between academic institutions and government bodies in building a future based on knowledge and innovation.

Abdelatty reviewed Egyptian-US relations, lauding the depth of the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries. He underlined that bilateral relations represent a key pillar for supporting security and stability in the Middle East.

He reviewed Egypt’s stance on major regional and international issues, including developments in the Gaza Strip, Sudan, and Libya, as well as matters related to Egypt’s water security. Egypt’s actions aim to support security and stability and to achieve peace, development, and prosperity for the peoples of the region, Abdelatty said.

During the meeting, attended by AUC President Ahmad Dallal, Chairman of AUC Board of Trustees Mark Turnage, and AUC Advisor and former minister of planning and economic development Hala el Said, Egypt’s top diplomat listened to views and questions of members of the Board of Trustees on various regional and international issues.

He affirmed the Foreign Ministry’s keenness to maintain open channels of dialogue with universities and think tanks in Egypt and abroad to enhance awareness about Egypt’s regional and international role.
