CAIRO – Foreign minister Badr Abdelatty said Monday that Egypt very much appreciates growing relations with the UAE.
The two Arab countries are also coordinating stances regarding regional and international issues of mutual concern, the minister of foreign affairs, emigration and Egyptian expatriates said during a meeting with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahayan in Abu Dhabi earlier today.
The Egyptian top diplomat thanked the UAE for its support for development efforts in Egypt, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Cairo is looking forward to further boosting investment and trade co-operation with Abu Dhabi, the spokesman quoted Abdelatty as having said.
The meeting took up the Palestinian cause and the raging crisis in the Gaza Strip, with Abdelatty underscoring Egypt’s non-stop efforts to prevent escalation and maintain security and stability in the region, according to Abu Zeid.
The spokesman said that Abdelatty also reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for the security and stability of Lebanon. He urged action to prevent an open war between Lebanon and Israel, Abu Zeid noted.
The top diplomats also discussed the Sudanese crisis, and the situation in the Horn of Africa, Somalia and Libya, as well as Red Sea security, the spokesman added.
