Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty had a telephone call with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al Busaidi, within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two nations.
During the phone call, Busaidi briefed Abdelatty on the progress of negotiations recently held in Muscat between the US and Iran, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf.
Abdelatty expressed appreciation for Oman’s constructive role in this vital file and hosting of the negotiations.
He affirmed that Egypt remains committed to intensive efforts to reduce regional escalation and contain tensions.
The Omani foreign minister praised Egypt’s diligent efforts and extensive communications with relevant parties over recent weeks, contributing to bridging viewpoints and paving the way for negotiations.
Busaidi lauded Egyptian diplomatic steps aimed at defusing regional crises.
For his part, Abdelatty emphasized that Egypt will continue supporting efforts that aim to reach a consensual settlement regarding the Iranian nuclear file that addresses the concerns of all parties.
He stressed the importance of building on the progress made in these negotiations to ensure regional security and prevent the area from sliding into new waves of instability.
Meanwhile, Abdelatty received a phone call from Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi to discuss developments of the Iranian nuclear file.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s persistent efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, emphasizing the necessity of pushing forward regional and international diplomatic solutions.
Egypt will maintain intensive contacts to support settlements that enhance both regional and international security and stability.
