Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati underscored the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy as the only path to prevent regional chaos during a series of high-level phone consultations on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said a statement.
Abdel-Aati spoke with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, focusing on rising military tensions and ongoing efforts to achieve regional de-escalation.
He highlighted Egypt’s close coordination with regional partners to support negotiations between the United States and Iran, aimed at defusing the current crisis and averting catastrophic consequences for the region and beyond. The minister also reiterated Egypt’s firm condemnation of attacks targeting Gulf countries and Jordan, affirming Cairo’s full solidarity with its Arab partners in defending security, stability, and sovereignty.
The phone discussions additionally addressed the wide-ranging economic repercussions of the conflict on the global economy. The Egyptian, Saudi, Jordanian ad German foreign ministers agreed on the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to achieve calm, reduce tensions, and bolster security and stability across the Middle East.
