Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati met on Wednesday in Kuwait City with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and conveyed a written message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The message reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Kuwait in the face of recent attacks during the current sensitive period. It also reflects the deep-rooted fraternal and longstanding relations between the two countries.
Minister Abdel-Aati conveyed the greetings of President Sisi to Sheikh Mishal and to the Crown Prince, reiterating Egypt’s firm backing for Kuwait amid the ongoing regional challenges. He also commended the Emir’s wise leadership, particularly his commitment to restraint in responding to what he described as serious violations targeting Kuwait and other Gulf states.
For his part, the Kuwaiti Crown Prince expressed gratitude for Egypt’s steadfast and principled support for Kuwait’s security and stability. He praised Egypt’s pivotal role in safeguarding Gulf and Arab security, describing it as a cornerstone of regional stability.
Minister Abdel-Aati reiterated Egypt’s strong condemnation of the attacks on Kuwait, rejecting any justifications for such violations of international law and the UN Charter.
He stressed that the security of Kuwait and the Gulf is an integral part of Egypt’s national security, affirming Cairo’s full support for all measures taken by Kuwait to protect its sovereignty and safeguard its national resources.
The minister also condemned the storming and vandalism of Kuwait’s Consulate General in Basra, describing the incident as a flagrant violation of the inviolability of diplomatic and consular missions and a clear breach of the international law.
The talks also addressed the latest regional developments, with Minister Abdel-Aati stressing the importance of continued coordination between Egypt and Kuwait to contain tensions, de-escalate the situation, and work towards ending the conflict through diplomatic means. He underscored the need to prioritise dialogue and wisdom to prevent the region from sliding into broader instability.
Minister Abdel-Aati also reviewed Egypt’s recent efforts, in coordination with regional partners, to reduce tensions and reach understandings. In this context, he welcomed the announcement by the US president of a two-week ceasefire, describing it as a positive step toward de-escalation that should be leveraged to advance negotiations and support diplomatic engagement.
The minister further stressed the importance of initiating dialogue on post-war security arrangements to reinforce the concept of collective Arab national security, safeguarding the sovereignty and resources of Arab and Gulf states.
The Crown Prince expressed appreciation for Egypt’s historic and consistent support for Kuwait, as well as the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. He also praised Egypt’s sustained efforts to promote de-escalation and stability in the region, voicing his aspiration to further strengthen ties in a manner that serves the interests of both nations.
