Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Expatriates delivered on Thursday a written message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, reiterating Egypt’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties between the two countries and enhancing coordination on regional and international issues.
President Sisi offered his greetings to President Putin and highlighted Egypt’s keenness to advance bilateral relations, deepen the longstanding strategic partnership, and maintain close consultation on matters of mutual interest.
Minister Abdel-Aati reaffirmed the importance attached by the Egyptian leadership to engagement with the Russian Federation, as reflected in sustained high-level exchanges and ongoing political dialogue.
President Putin requested Minister Abdel-Aati to convey his greetings to President Sisi, expressing appreciation for the depth of Egyptian-Russian relations and the constructive co-operation across various sectors. He also commended Egypt’s role in supporting security and stability in the Middle East.
The discussions addressed key aspects of bilateral co-operation, including progress on the el-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, described as a flagship national project being implemented in accordance with agreed timelines, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf said in a statement.
He added that Minister Abdel-Aati highlighted, during the meeting, the importance of the Russian Industrial estate in the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a cornerstone of economic collaboration, expressing anticipation for further progress in its implementation.
Co-operation in the supply of wheat, grains and oils was also reviewed, with Egypt reaffirming its commitment to sustaining and strengthening this partnership, in addition to exploring opportunities for expanded collaboration, including in grain logistics.
The two sides discussed regional and international developments, particularly escalating tensions in the Middle East, with Minister Abdel-Aati outlining Egypt’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote de-escalation, stressing that dialogue and political solutions remain the most effective path to preserving regional stability.
On the Palestinian issue, the foreign minister highlighted Egypt’s efforts to restore calm in the Gaza Strip, as well as its broader initiatives aimed at supporting governance and stability.
Developments in Libya were also discussed, with Egypt reaffirming support for a comprehensive, Libyan-led political settlement.
