CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met Tuesday with the consular department to review efforts exerted to upgrade consular services for Egyptian expats.
Abdelatty urged boosted communication with the Egyptian communities abroad to provide quick and effective services.
Digital transformation has become a pressing demand, the top diplomat said, noting that it helps achieve transparency, enhance the efficiency of services and ease consular communication.
Abdelatty said that digital consular services are an integral part of a comprehensive strategy designed to upgrade embassy services.
He stressed the need to train consular cadres in using modern technology to guarantee high-quality services are offered to Egyptians abroad.
The meeting took up steps taken to implement the comprehensive digitization plan, which would ease communication with expats and save their time and effort, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf.
Part of the plan includes the launch of an electronic platform, through which Egyptian nationals could obtain their consular services remotely, Khallaf noted.
