CAIRO- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has condemned Israel’s serious escalation and violations in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
In a telephone call he received from Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard, the foreign minister described the Israeli escalation as a breach of international law.
He called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-stricken areas.
They discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Middle East in the aftermath of regional developments.
The foreign minister congratulated the Swedish top diplomat on the occasion of assuming her new post, expressing hope for promoting the two countries’ relations.
Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of cementing economic relations and benefitting from promising investment chances especially in the fields of energy.
The foreign minister said that Egypt attaches great importance to the convocation of the second session of the Egyptian-Swedish Business Forum in Cairo to build on the success of the first session held in Stockholm in 2023.
The foreign minister hailed the Swedish humanitarian role in supporting UNRWA, expressing denunciation of the Israeli plan to hamper the mission of the UN body.
