Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty commended distinguished relations between Egypt and Japan that have been upgraded to the level of strategic partnership.
Abdelatty’s remarks were made while receiving Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike on the sidelines of attending the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Egypt on Thursday.
Abdelatty said the Egyptian side is looking forward to maintaining cooperation with Koike in the coming period.
There are many cooperation vistas between the two friendly countries, he said.
The foreign minister added Egypt is appreciating Japan’s contribution to the fulfilment of a number of important projects in the country, topped by the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
Shifting to the economic cooperation, Abdelatty hailed the role of Japanese companies operating in Egypt.
He said Egypt seeks to capitalize on the Japanese leading experiment in urban development, entrepreneurship and startups.
