Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel Aaty participated on Wednesday as a keynote speaker in the opening session of the Munich Leaders Meeting, held in the historic city of AlUla under the theme “Finding Common Ground: The Middle East in a Multipolar World.”
The session was also attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and the French President’s Special Envoy to Lebanon Jean-Yves Le Drian.
Minister Abdel Aaty underscored the centrality of the Palestinian question, reviewing Egypt’s intensive efforts to end what he described as Israel’s “brutal war” on the Gaza Strip.
He welcomed, in this regard, the efforts of US President Donald Trump to halt the war in Gaza, while stressing the urgent need for an Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, the unfettered flow of humanitarian aid, the prevention of any annexation of the West Bank, as well as the imperative to block any forced displacement of Palestinians from their land.
He further stressed the importance of creating a genuine political horizon based on the two-state solution that ensures the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, foremost among them are the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.
Minister Abdel Aaty called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and exercise pressure on Israel to allow the entry of humanitarian assistance without obstruction, amid what he described as a catastrophic humanitarian situation and famine in Gaza.
