Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati has reasserted the imperative of consolidating the ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring unhindered humanitarian access and advancing political solutions to regional crises.
Abdel-Aati expressed this position during a series of telephone conversations with his counterparts from Türkiye, Pakistan, Oman and Kuwait on Sunday.
In his call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Abdel-Aati underlined Egypt’s commitment to building on the recent positive momentum in Egyptian–Turkish relations.
The two ministers reviewed preparations for the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Co-operation Council, due to be co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the first quarter of 2026.
Discussions during the phone call also covered the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza, with Abdel-Aati asserting the need to move to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, launch early recovery and reconstruction efforts, and reject any measures undermining Palestinian territorial unity.
Both sides stressed de-escalation and dialogue in Yemen and reaffirmed their rejection of any recognition of the so-called “Somaliland,” underscoring support for Somalia’s unity and sovereignty.
During his phone conversation with Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Egyptian foreign minister praised the steady development of bilateral relations, particularly following his recent visit to Islamabad. The two ministers exchanged views on Gaza and Yemen, highlighting the need for sustainable calm and political pathways to lasting regional stability.
In talks with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi,Minister Abdel-Aati highlighted the depth of fraternal ties between Egypt and Oman and the importance of expanding co-operation in priority sectors. They also discussed Gaza, Yemen and the Iranian nuclear file, stressing the necessity of diplomacy, de-escalation and confidence-building in solving the crises.
In a separate call with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Yahya, Dr Abdel-Aati reaffirmed close coordination and a shared commitment to expanding economic, trade and investment co-operation.
Developments in the Gaza Strip and the situation in Yemen were also addressed during the call, with Minister Abdel-Aati highlighting the importance of achieving lasting calm, de-escalation, and an inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue to resolve the crisis comprehensively, avoiding any unilateral actions, and contributing to the security and stability of the Yemeni people.
