Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm commitment to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan and the preservation of its national institutions.

This came during Abdelatty’s meeting on Wednesday with Sudanese Foreign Minister Ambassador Mohieldin Salem.

He emphasized that Sudan’s security and stability are an integral part of the security and stability of the entire region.

Both ministers discussed the latest developments in Sudan, particularly the humanitarian and security situation in the city of Al Fashir.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said that Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s full support for the brotherly Sudanese people and its commitment to continue efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Sudan.

He noted Egypt’s active engagement in initiatives seeking to secure a ceasefire and establish a comprehensive humanitarian truce that would allow the delivery of aid and alleviate the suffering of civilians.

The ministers also reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment and infrastructure rehabilitation.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s readiness to expand cooperation in the sectors of electricity, water, health and education to help meet the needs of the Sudanese people.

The meeting further addressed water security issues, with both sides reaffirming their unified stance as downstream countries of the Nile River and stressing the importance of full adherence to international law governing the Eastern Nile Basin.

They also highlighted their commitment to coordination and close consultation to strengthen the deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood between Egypt and Sudan and to support the aspirations of their peoples for peace, development and stability.
