Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed any attempts to undermine the mandate of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) under any pretext or false justification are completely “unacceptable.”
He stressed Egypt’s firm support for the UN agency.
Abdelatty’s remarks came at a joint press conference held on Saturday with Commissioner-General of UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini.
The foreign minister expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the commissioner-general for his tireless and ongoing efforts in supporting the Palestinian people, especially under the extremely complex conditions currently prevailing – describing the situation as a full-fledged famine caused by the Israeli occupation.
Abdelatty also extended his thanks and appreciation to all humanitarian relief workers who continue to provide services to Palestinians and remain committed to performing their duties.
He further expressed gratitude to the volunteers—around 35,000 young Egyptians—from the Egyptian Red Crescent, praising their dedication and humanitarian commitment.
He emphasized Egypt has kept the Rafah crossing open around-the-clock, although the terminal is effectively closed from the Palestinian side due to Israeli-imposed restrictions that hinder the entry and flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
