Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty Monday affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the Sudanese people during this delicate phase as well as support for the Government of Hope under led by Dr. Kamel Idris.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a phone call Monday with Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salim.
They discussed the outcomes of Abdelatty’s visit to Port Sudan on November 11, as well as ways to support efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive settlement to the Sudanese crisis.
Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s unwavering support to Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and safeguarding its national institutions.
He emphasized Egypt’s complete rejection of attempts aimed at dividing the country or undermining its stability.
The top Egyptian diplomat reiterated condemnation of the appalling atrocities and violations recently committed in Al-Fasher city.
He called for launching an effective humanitarian track that ensures the unimpeded arrival of aid, parallel to increasing relief support and strengthening cooperation with the United Nations, the African Union, and relief agencies.
Abdelatty highlighted the importance of the full implementation of the International Quartet statement, pushing towards a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire that guarantees the protection of the Sudanese state’s unity and its national institutions.
He asserted the significance of maintaining consultation between Egypt and Sudan in defending the water rights and interests of both peoples.
