Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s spouse Mrs Entissar El Sisi saluted the Egyptian women on the International Women’s Day that falls on March 8 every year.
In a post on her official social media accounts, the First Lady said, “As we celebrate today the International Women’s Day, I salute and express my appreciation to every dedicated Egyptian woman. On this occasion, I would like to reiterate that the Egyptian state continues efforts to empower women across all levels, stemming from the belief that women are fundamental partners and active players in building our New Republic”.
The theme of the International Women’s Day 2023 (IWD 2023) is, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”. This theme is aligned with the priority theme for the upcoming 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW-67), “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”,the UN announced late in December 2022.
The UN observance of the International Women’s Day recognises and celebrates women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.
The International Women’s Day 2023 will explore the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities. The event will also spotlight the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence.
