Egypt’s Ministry Of Social Solidarity held its first training session for volunteers at the UN Climate Change conference (COP27).

The session was organised by the Egyptian Red Crescent Association for 150 volunteers who were selected to take part in the event.

“We want volunteers and civil societies to make their presence felt at COP27 conference in order to show their efforts to protect the community from dangers to the environment in the light of Egypt’s National Climate Change strategy,” Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag said.

El-Qabbag said the role of her ministry in preparation for COP27 is threefold: ensuring disabled access, organising Civil Society Day on the sidelines of the event, and training 1,000 volunteers.

COP27 is to be held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh early next month.
