Egypt’s Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait on Thursday asserted that the political leadership is always keen on supporting and encouraging Turkish investments in Egypt.

“We are working on removing any hindrances facing Turkish investments in Egypt, in order to boost such investments throughout the upcoming period,” the minister said during a meeting with Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Rifat Hisarciklioglu on the sidelines of the 14th Turkish – Arab Economic Forum (TAF’2023) in Istanbul.

“We are looking forward to boosting the volume of bilateral trade to 15 billion dollars within the coming five years, against 10 billion dollars in the past year,” Maait said, affirming Egypt’s willingness to strengthen ties with Turkey in all domains, specially those of common interest.

He highlighted the exceptional circumstances faced by emerging economies due to the consecutive crises of the coronavirus and the geopolitical tensions.

The number of Turkish companies operating in Egypt stands at 790 with investments worth 2.5 billion dollars, Maait added.
