CAIRO – Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet has issued a decision on the regulations for enforcing minimum wage for government employees as of this month.
The Finance Ministry said in a statement that the enforcement of the minimum wage is part of procedures taken under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to alleviate the ramifications of the global economic crisis on the citizens.
Under these directives, the minimum wage for government employees is set to range between EGP 3,500 and EGP10,500.
The president also ordered raising the minimum wage for those government employees who hold a Master’s degree to be EGP 6,000 and for those who hold a PhD to EGP 7,000.
