Exploring the Drivers of Egyptian Industrial Development in the Age of AI
The Eighth Edition of the International Conference on Strategic Forum is set to take place on Sunday, November 24, 2024, in Cairo. This year’s theme, “Drivers of Egyptian Industrial Development in the World of Artificial Intelligence,” reflects Egypt’s commitment to building a sustainable future through strategic frameworks aimed at enhancing the investment and industrial sectors.
Dr. Alaa Rizk, head of the conference, emphasized that the event is part of broader efforts to attract investments, particularly in the industrial sector, recognized as a crucial driver of economic growth. Organized in collaboration with the Strategic Forum Association and the Union of Arab Universities, and under the auspices of the Ministries of Communications, Planning, Environment, and Economic Development, the conference aims to present innovative plans that capitalize on Egypt’s resources and capabilities.
Engineer Osama Kamal, honorary president of the conference, highlighted the importance of modernizing the industrial development strategy in alignment with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives. The conference seeks to position Egypt as a regional and global industrial hub, opening avenues for strategic thinking that reinforces sustainable development principles. The discussions will focus on a comprehensive vision for advancing the Egyptian economy through sustainable practices, social justice, improved living standards, increased job opportunities, and sustained economic growth.
Senator Mahmoud Sami Al-Imam, deputy head of the conference, stressed the significance of reviewing the urgent plan for enhancing Egyptian industry, which aligns with the second phase of the Egyptian economic reform program. This phase focuses on three pillars: industry, agriculture, and digital transformation, including artificial intelligence. The conference will showcase modern industrial development models and innovations, as well as highlight Egypt’s industrial investment landscape and the importance of upskilling the technical workforce to keep pace with global industrial advancements.
Major General Mohamed Helmy, also a deputy head of the conference, indicated that the event aims to provide forward-looking insights for industrial development in Egypt. It will emphasize the role of the private sector as a key driver of industrial growth and employment. Furthermore, the conference will address the importance of technical education in industry development and the media’s role in shaping public perceptions of this vital sector. Topics will include localizing promising industries to support the state’s vision for technology transfer and innovation, translating scientific research into practical applications supported by industrial and financial institutions.
Dr. Tarek Wafik, one of the conference rapporteurs, outlined that the agenda will cover four main themes over two days:
- Sustainable Industrial Development and Growth Drivers: This session will explore the national strategy for agricultural and industrial development, the shift towards a green economy, and the challenges facing Egypt’s industrial sector.
- Technical Education and Legislation: Discussions will focus on strategies to accelerate technological advancement for industrial development, the role of media in promoting technical education, and relevant laws related to the knowledge industry, with case studies from Italy and Germany.
- The Impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution: This segment will examine government initiatives related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including the “Start” initiative, as well as the opportunities and challenges facing Egyptian industry.
- Artificial Intelligence and Change Management in Industrial Institutions: The final theme will delve into the role of AI in driving industrial development, its potential as an innovation catalyst, and its impact on business strategies.
