A delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) paid a visit on Monday to the premises of the Desert Research Centre (DRC) station in South Sinai to discuss means of implementing sustainable development projects in the governorate.
The FAO delegation, chaired the organisation representative in Egypt Nasredin Hag Elamin and his deputy Mohamed Yacoub were briefed on the water desalination system as well as the animal production activities along with fodder alternatives used to raise livestock.
Head of DRC Dr Abdullah Zaghloul said the visit comes as part of co-operation between FAO and the Agriculture Ministry with the aim of enhancing partnership with international bodies to upgrade the development plans in the agricultural sector.
He also noted that the visit aims at utilizing DRC station’s potentials in implementing large-scale sustainable development activities for South Sinai residents.
The two sides also addressed means of improving local agricultural methods as well as upgrading the techniques used by farmers to increase productivity of agricultural crops.
