CAIRO – The State Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs announced extending an initiative to finally settle conscription positions for nationals abroad until October 13 due to high turnout of Egyptian expats, who want to benefit from it.
In a statement, Emigration Minister Soha Gendi said the extension decision came in response to requests of Egyptians living abroad to take part in the initiative and settle their military service position.
The initiative is serving students abroad who want to settle their military service position, she added.
The initiative, which was launched in July, will benefit those who can not return home or leave once again, as they are not allowed to travel for being required for military service or not having terminated their conscription status, the minister said.
The move is showing the utmost keenness of the Egyptian State on offering all forms of facilitations to Egyptian expats including work opportunities, study chances and medical care, she added in the note.
Registrations started on the Foreign Ministry’s website as of August 14 in order to file applications for settling conscription status.
