CAIRO – European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee Chief David MacAllister underlined the importance of the strategic relations between the European countries and Egypt that should serve the two sides’ best interests in order to face the common economic and security challenges.
The EU official’s remarks were made during his meeting with Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ihab Talaat Nasr during his first visit to the Foreign Ministry’s premises in Cairo.
MacAllister reiterated the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in the various fields as well as pursuing exchange of visits and meetings between the two sides.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian diplomat asserted the importance of building and developing strategic ties between Egypt and the European countries in order to achieve common goals.
He also reiterated the necessity of maintaining direct dialogue between the two sides especially members of the European Parliament to bolster joint understanding and discuss all issues of common interest.
