EU Ambassador to Egypt Christian Berger has voiced appreciation for efforts exerted by Egypt to provide support for the residents of Gaza.
Berger greatly appreciated the role played by the Health Ministry to offer medical services to injured Gazans at Egyptian hospitals.
In a meeting via video conference with Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on Monday, the European official said the EU is willing to provide humanitarian and medical assistance to support the health system in Egypt to be able to offer better medical services to the injured.
The meeting took up means of supporting Gazans and delivering aid to them, a statement by the Health Ministry said.
Abdel Ghaffar posted Berger on his Ministry’s care plan that starts with receiving the wounded, assessing their health conditions, moving them to hospitals and finally conducting accurate surgeries.
The minister also talked about psychological support services provided for the wounded and their companions.
The great majority of the injured are under 18 years old, Abdel Ghaffar said. About 43 per cent of the wounded are women, he added.
