CAIRO – Head of the European Union delegation to Egypt Christian Berger said Friday that the EU will organize a conference to highlight investment opportunities in Egypt.
The conference will be held in cooperation with the Egyptian government during the spring season to post European and foreign businesspeople on available opportunities, Berger told MENA.
Goals of the conference are to be set within a few weeks, the EU ambassador said.
He made it clear that the European investment plan in Egypt is estimated to cost some 9 billion euros as part of an EU strategy for Africa and the Middle East.
Berger put the volume of the actual EU portfolio in Egypt for the time being at about 1.3 billion euros offered in the form of loans.
The volume of the European Investment Bank (EIB) portfolio in Egypt amounts to an annual of one billion euros, he added.
