Minister of Justice Omar Marwan said the establishment of the justice city in the New Administrative Capital is considered the centerpiece of his ministry’s projects to develop judicial and administrative work.
The minister was speaking during a ceremony held on Saturday at Al Manara International Conference Center in the New Cairo suburb to mark Egyptian Judiciary Day in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Marwan added that the Justice Ministry has made unprecedented achievements in less than two years via implementing development projects to upgrade the judicial system, hailing President Sisi’s efforts in this file.
History will recall President Sisi’s wise leadership of the homeland at a critical time that is full of challenges and fluctuations, during which he strengthened State institutions and drew up a roadmap for Egypt’s development.
Minister of Justice Omar Marwan said presidential directives to develop the judicial system have immediately been implemented with direct support from Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and via strong cooperation from the ministers concerned.
In this regard, Marwan noted that the justice ministry managed in less than two years to carry out an unprecedented number of projects that have made remarkable development in the judicial system.
The minister pointed out to a project implemented to enable holding hearings on the extension of custody via video conferencing, as part of which 141 courts were electronically linked with 252 prisons in addition to another project allowing filing civil suits remotely which, he said, has so far covered 15 governorates.
Another project has been implemented to issue certificates of the economic courts via video conferencing in addition to the project of securing documents of the Justice Ministry and courts, Marwan pointed out.
In addition, 329 courts and 230 notary public offices have been upgraded and 305 documentation departments have been automated, he said adding that digitized outlets were added at 109 post offices.
Citizens are now capable of obtaining notary public services electronically, he said, noting that a new mobile documentation service has also been also introduced.
