Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described Turkey and Egypt the cradle of civilisations.
He noted that he is working with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to continue furthering bilateral ties.
He added that Turkey maintained dialogue and cooperation at the highest level with President Sisi in addition to maintaining non-stop consultations on regional issues.
Turkish President Erdogan said Egypt and Turkey have joint history and deeply-rooted amicable ties, noting that the coming year will mark the centennial anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Erdogan noted that it was agreed during his meeting with President Sisi in Cairo to restructure the High-Level Strategic Co-operation Council, adding that the council’s first meeting was held today.
He added that a joint declaration underlined keenness on enhancing cooperation in various domains, including trade, industry, defense, health, environment and energy.
He added that Turkey is interested in boosting the volume of trade in Egypt to hit $15 billion within the coming five years.
Erdogan said Turkish businessmen largely contribute to the Egyptian economy with about $3 billion worth investments.
He highlighted encouraging Turkish entrepreneurs to boost investments and welcoming Egyptian investors in Turkey.
