Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad has said that Egypt opened the door for investment in recycling all kinds of wastes as part of the state interest in preserving the environment.
Fouad’s statement came during a meeting on Tuesday with representatives of the Waterway Developments, a real estate developer in New Cairo, and some researchers at a centre of construction materials in Germany to explore mechanisms of recycling wastes and turning them into fruitful construction materials in co-operation with the private sector.
The minister hailed the idea of making use of rice straw instead of burning it to preserve the environment and prevent the black clouds that appear in Egypt’s skies every year as a result of burning the straw.
The minister also discussed the possibility of producing Pharmaceutical Gelatin, which is used in medical and food products, and is obtained from the bones and skins of animals.
