NAIROBI- Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad met Saturday with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, who will chair the 2024 UN climate conference, COP29, in Baku in November, on the sidelines of her participation in the sixth UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) in Nairobi.
The meeting aimed to unify viewpoints on climate action and support current and future cooperation between both countries to protect the environment.
Fouad asserted the depth and strength of historical relations between the two countries and said she is looking forward to maintaining cooperation to support environmental action at the local, regional and international levels especially during COP29, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan late this year.
Babayev said he wants to get acquainted with Egypt’s successful experiment after its played host to COP27 in 2020.
