Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad has stressed that Egypt is ready to host the UN climate change conference (COP27), to be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.
Speaking over the phone to Channel 1, she reiterated that the state is keen to reflect Egypt’s good image through perfect organisation of the conference.
She added that Egypt will announce its plan for protecting the environment during the conference.
The state also launches media campaigns and national dialogue to raise awareness among people about climate change-related issues, in addition to carrying out national projects to protect the environment.
Meetings are held continuously to ensure that the conference’s preparations are at the aspired level.
Sharm El Sheikh is set to be changed into a green city soon, the minister said, adding that Egypt is expanding the use of new and renewable energy and stepping up efforts to protect the environment.
