CAIRO – Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad asserted continued follow up on partnership with the private sector in managing waste system to encounter all challenges.
During an inspection tour of Enviromaster company in the eastern zone and the mediation station in Mataria, eastern Cairo on Wednesday, the minister said the tour comes within the framework of the ministry’s role in organising waste management, following up on the implementation of the solid waste management system, as part of its role as a planner, organiser and monitor of the system, including the system’s planning for 27 governorates, supervising the design and implementation of infrastructure, as well as preparing specifications and conditions for collection, transportation and street cleaning services.
The tour also aims to stand on the latest progress regarding operating fixed intermediate stations, treatment plants and sanitary landfills and creating a supportive climate for the involvement of stakeholders, especially the private sector and non-official sector.
The company is responsible for gathering and transferring garbage in addition to the cleanness of the street, public utilities and recycling operations in nine districts in the eastern zone.
