The grave consequences of climate change revealed the important connection between biodiversity and climate change, affirmed Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad on Sunday.
It is important to adopt sustainable solutions which can attain exchanged benefits between the two fields, added the minister during her participation in the Summit of the Three Basins of Biodiversity Ecosystems and Tropical Forests in the Congolese capital Brazzaville on behalf of President Abel Fattah El Sisi.
The minister, meanwhile, conveyed the greetings of President Sisi to the participants and his aspiration that the summit will hopefully come up with the recommendations which support the international climate action.
The minister further referred to the crucial role played by Egypt in supporting biodiversity and climate change, adding that Egypt has exerted strenuous efforts in order to create a map of biodiversity.
She also pointed out to Egypt’s crucial role in establishing a new loss and damage (L&D) fund, which aims to enable vulnerable countries to respond to and recover from climate impacts.
Concluding her speech, the minister urged the world on working toward entrenching the values of humanity, cooperation and peace.
