CAIRO – Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad announced Monday the beginning of the annual programme to train cadres in the field of bird classification and monitoring at the Gabal El Zeit environmental excellence centre in co-operation with the Migratory Soaring Birds Project of the Environment Ministry and funded by the UNDP and BirdLife International.
Fouad said the training programme aims to qualify cadres at wind power plants at the Gulf of Suez by introducing them to types of migratory birds, how to identify them and modern methods of monitoring and tracking them.
The minister pointed to the high turnout of fresh graduates and locals to the current session of the programme, adding it is a real chance for involving youth in protecting biological diversity, especially birds.
