Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Foud announced starting the preparatory stage for examining sharks’ attitudes on the Egyptian coasts of the Red Sea.
The three-stage study – the first of its kind in the Red Sea – targets three kinds of sharks that are recognized to be behind the accidents in the Red Sea over the past few years in light of local and international statistics, she said.
The 18-month study is conducted under the supervision of an international powerhouse in this domain.
Fouad said the study seeks to uncover the reasons behind the change of sharks’ attitudes in various seasons, especially in Hurghada, as well as needed precautionary measures during these seasons.
