RIYADH – Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Minister Soha el-Gendi said her visit to Saudi Arabia is meant to discuss ways to upgrade conditions of members of the Egyptian community in the kingdom.
In a phone call Sunday with “Men Misr” Program, on CBC Tv channel, the minister said her visit to Saudi Arabia – which she termed as “important” is the first of a series of visits to Egyptian communities abroad.
The State strongly supports all members of Egyptian communities abroad, said the minister, adding that she has floated a direct contact mechanism to solve all problems members of Egyptian communities might face.
The Saudi Arabian side is looking forward to upping the number of foreign laborers in general from 13 to 27 million workers, Gendi said, adding that all cadres should be of high efficiency and qualifications.
According to the minister, coordination is under way with the Saudi Arabian side to train all needed workers through joint training centers, as the ministry will help Egyptian workers in this regard, with a view to linking them to the labor market abroad.
