Egyptian Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Nabila Makram has bestowed her ministry’s shield on an Egyptian citizen who saved the lives of tens of Arabs including Egyptians during the ongoing Russia-Ukrainian crisis.

A statement issued by the ministry on Wednesday said the Egyptian citizen, identified as Islam al Ashiry, managed to save the lives of tens of civilians and took them out of Ukraine despite the risk of war.

Ashiry said in statements during an honouring ceremony that he drove his car in rugged areas in Ukraine for three days to save the lives of civilians including Arabs and foreigners and was able to get them out of Ukraine to neighbouring countries.
