State Minister for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Nabila Makram said the ministry is keen on co-operation with several institutions and international organisations in order to attain the UN goals.
The minister’s remarks came during her meeting with the Deputy Director General of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Ugochi Daniels, the head of IOM’s mission in Egypt Laurent de Bock and the IOM’s Senior Regional Advisor for Middle East and North Africa Othman Belbeisi to discuss ways of boosting joint co-operation to serve the immigrants.
In a statement on Tuesday, Makram praised the level of co-operation with the IOM along with the international institutions, as part of efforts to attain sustainable development goals and provide alternative solutions for immigration.
Assistant Emigration Minister for International Co-operation Mohamed Khairat, meanwhile, reviewed during the meeting the Ministry’s efforts in combating illegal immigration as well as the presidential initiatives which include the “Speak Arabic”/”Etkallem Arabi,” that aims to help second and third generation Egyptians living abroad to feel connected to their motherland.
The head of IOM’s mission in Egypt Laurent de Bock, for his part, voiced appreciation for the great level of co-operation with the Emigration Ministry in several files and initiatives, which have positive outcomes in several governorates.
He also hailed Egypt’s launch of the “National Strategy on Combating Illegal Migration” as well as its efforts in providing the necessary training for the youth.
